Blue Emerald is a full service interior design and cabinetry company located in Southwest Colorado. While most of our projects service the Ouray/Ridgway/Telluride areas, we will go anywhere within the United States. Our niche lies in custom cabinetry straight to your project/door. If you are looking for a for professional design help, product-finish selections and or a team to take you from design to completion, we will make a great fit.

We believe your project is unique to you and you alone. We will never push our own tastes unless requested. It is our goal to take your inspiration and ideas and make it work seamlessly and comfortably. As you’ll note from our gallery projects, no project is quite like the other.

Blue Emerald was established in 2022 and has completed over 15 projects in it’s short tenure.

About the Owner

Prior to starting the company, Rachel Bates, owner and lead designer, began her passion for home since she could read. Inspired by her mom who loved to buy home magazines, Rachel quickly followed suit and would tear out the floorplans of homes and interior home photos from those magazines and collect them in her own folders. Her interest never faltered and Rachel received her Batchelor's of interior architecture and design from Colorado State University. She shortly after received her Bachelor’s of construction management the following year. What started out as her childhood hobby had slowly become a reality. Rachel started her career in commercial construction. While she loved the hustle and bustle of working in a high pace environment, there was something missing- design. After a few years, Rachel made the jump to custom home building. This bridged the gap of the tactile part of construction and allowed her to assist clients with their design choices. Not shortly after Rachel found that many clients had great architectural designs for the core of their home, but didn’t have an idea where to start on the interiors. Then blossomed Blue Emerald.

Rachel’s construction knowledge is parallel to the success of the this company. While she learned the technical skills and rules of interior design in school, it’s her construction background that makes her designs effortlessly come to life.
